This is the most beautiful wedding idea! Very untraditional yet still classic.
Beach Reception Inspiration
These songs remind me of long drives, walks on the beach, and the sunny so-cal weather. It’s what I listened to the majority of the 6 hour drive from Phoenix to LA.
1. “California” by Phantom Planet (duh it’s basically so-cal’s national anthem)
2. “Beautiful Love” by The Afters
3. “I’m Ready” by Jack’s Mannequin
4. “California Bound” by Carolina Liar
5. “Catch Your Wave” by The Click Five
6. “Float On” by Modest Mouse
7. “Holiday from Real” by Jack’s Mannequin
8. “Are You Gonna” by Ginger Sling
9. “Corona and Lime” by Shwayze
10. “The Mixed Tape” by Jack’s Mannequin
11. “Ocean Breathes Salty” by Modest Mouse
12. “Dark Blue” by Jack’s Mannequin
13. “Must Have Done Something Right” by Relient k
14. “Buzzin’” by Shwayze
15. “Bruised” by Jack’s Mannequin
16. “Honey and the Moon” by Joseph Arthur (one of my all time favorite songs… ever.)
17. “Paint the Silence” by South
18. “Come Clean” by Hilary Duff (Laguna Beach. Enough said.)
I know there’s a lot of Jack’s Mannequin on there but that’s all I listened to the summer of ‘07, which happens to be one of my favorite summers ever. My friend Liz and I went to Coronado and we would drive down the small streets blasting his CD.
Great memories are associated with all of these songs and hopefully new ones will be created as I make my home here for the next 6 months.
Every once in a while I get on a Beatles kick and all I can think about how I wish I could’ve seen them perform live. Then I proceed to YouTube all their live videos all day or watch “A Hard Day’s Night” for the 50th time. All I listen to during this period is my Beatles anthology over and over again. These kicks can last for a day or months depending on how nostalgic my mood is.
The Beatles were truly the best band to ever walk this planet. How could anyone ever possibly turn something as simple as holding one’s hand into the most romantic gesture ever? Or come up with a song filled with such beauty and heartbreak and just simply call it, “Yesterday?”
